Log Cabin Modular Homes
While log cabin modular homes have been a popular choice for many years in terms of a vacation home or guesthouse, the idea of log cabin living has grown to encompass many primary residences as well. Companies that manufacture log cabin modular homes are now offering models that are large enough to house an entire family. Because of the choice available, many are choosing log cabins as a full time endeavor to give them the feel of escaping the urban setting for a taste of country living.
The primary difference between a log house and a traditional frame model is that the log cabin is built by stacking logs one on top of another. The interior of the cabin is usually entirely wood, from the walls to the floors, ceilings and even the doors and trim. Decorating these homes involves finding rich colors to coordinate with and break up the abundance of wood, and usually involves a country or rustic style that gives the inhabitant a warm and cozy atmosphere.
Log cabin modular homes are constructed with the same materials, but instead of building the home on site, it is crafted in an environmentally controlled factory. This means savings to the home owner, since the house can be built in a much shorter time frame than those that are built outdoors on a lot. It also allows for less damage to the wood and home since exposure to the elements is limited until the home is completed.
Within the last decade, log cabins have become the primary residence for nearly 90% of all log home owners, and 84% of these houses are built near metropolitan areas. This is good news for many log cabin owners, since resale values tend to be higher with primary residences.
