Prefab Homes

Prefab homes are homes that are built indoors in a factory in a series of pieces, delivered to the building site and “built” or assembled.  Prefab homes are an excellent option for those who have a little more money to spend but still want to go with the non-site built options. There are a multitude of reasons why somebody would do this and prefer a prefab home rather than a more traditional site built home. Namely, twice the luxuries and amenities for half the cost of a traditional home.

What’s so great about prefab homes anyway? They are part of the new wave in manufactured housing, one of the many types of manufactured homes people are choosing to live in these days.  While prefab homes are not necessarily always able to be dubbed ‘inexpensive,’ they are certainly less expensive than traditional housing, a great deal more inexpensive per square foot of housing.

Also, for people who want things when they want them--meaning right then, prefab homes are an excellent choice.  They are great for people who just do not have the patience to wait on a home to be built on their property.  With building codes, permits, and inspectors this process can take months upon months to complete; with prefab homes most of the inspections on the home are completed before it even arrives on your site,

While purchasing a prefab home doesn’t always feel the same as if you built one yourself, most companies that offer prefab homes have plenty of options for you to choose from that will allow you to personalize and customize your home to your comfort and taste.  Many prefab homes are built to the modernist’s taste, with large contemporary glass picture windows, stylish eaves and sloped ceilings. Appliances are usually new and up to date, along with stylish sink fixtures, moldings, and even doorknobs. The purchaser has a great deal of control and authority over the little details involved in creating the prefab home they desire. Homeowners have almost complete control over  most of these small details involved in building their home--details as small as what type of windows to use, what type of counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom. Every little detail is purchased by the homeowner as part of their prefab home, and every little detail is chosen and finalized by the prospective owner as well.

Also, banks and credit unions offer financing for prefab homes and other manufactured homes just as they offer financing for new home construction or the purchase of other homes.  You have to go through a lot of the same processes as far as the loan goes, but the end result can turn out to be a lot cheaper in the end.  Your money goes a lot further with a prefab home; even if you do end up spending the same amount on your home, the end result is bound to be much nicer and much more YOU.
